HOW DO YOU CALCULATE THE FIRING RANGE ON THE TANKS? |
The range of most of the tanks in Panzer Squadron is between
1000 and 2000 meters (and even as much as 4000 meters in the
case of 88mm canons). A game-play hexagon measures about 8
meters across so each tank in the game can realistically fire
on a target from anywhere on the game-play mat. |
|
WHEN A RUINED HOUSE IS IN THE LINE OF FIRE OF A TANK BUT
ONLY BLOCKS ONE SIDE OF A TARGET TANK THAT IS ALREADY BLOCKED
BY ANOTHER OBSTACLE, DO YOU HAVE TO SUBTRACT -2 FROM THE
SHOT DICE? |
The obstacle reductions are non-cumulative. In this instance
the reduction on the shot would only be -1. |
|
IF THERE ARE ENOUGH MOVEMENT
POINTS REMAINING AFTER A TANK HAS FIRED ITS CANON TO FIRE
A SECOND SHOT, ARE YOU ALLOWED TO FIRE AGAIN?
EXAMPLE: A TANK IN MOVEMENT ROLLS 7 ON THE MOVEMENT DICE
AND ONLY MOVES ONE SPACE BEFORE FIRING (1+3=4), THERE WOULD
STILL BE 3 MOVEMENT POINTS LEFT, ENOUGH FOR A SECOND SHOT.
CAN THE TANK TAKE THE SECOND SHOT?
|
No, a tank may only fire once per turn. |
|
THE GERMAN TANKS ARE MUCH STRONGER
THAN THE ALLIED TANKS AND IT’S REALLY DIFFICULT TO
HAVE A BALANCED GAME. |
This is true. The first 2 editions offer you the opportunity
to play with some of the most potent German tanks of World
War II such as the Jagdtiger or the Elephant. Panzer Squadron
is a simple game, not a reality simulation, and as such
you can always mix your teams to form teams of different
tank sizes irregardless of nationality. Our suggestion for
balanced teams can be found at the bottom of this page.

HOW
MANY POINTS DO YOU NEED TO FIRE A TANK THAT IS WAITING IN
AMBUSH? |
When a tank is waiting in ambush, it
does not need movement points to fire. It is treated as
a stationary tank. However if you wish to move the tank
then one or two (if it was left in movement at the end of
the previous turn) movement dice are needed.
It’s important to remember that if a tank waiting
in ambush fires as its first action during a turn it may
not then move afterwards in that turn.
|
|
CAN YOU CUMULATE THE UNUSED MOVEMENT
POINTS FROM ONE TURN TO ANOTHER? |
Unfortunatly it is impossible to cumulate
points for use in subsequent turns. If you don’t use
your total number of movement points in one turn through
movement or firing, the remaining points are lost. |
|
WHEN A TANK HAS "-2 MOVEMENT"
PRINTED ON ITS GAME CARD, WHEN DO YOU APPLY THE -2: WHEN YOU
ROLL THE D4 OR WHEN YOU DECIDE WHETHER TO MOVE OR FIRE? |
The -2 movement restriction only applies when you wish to
move the tank. If your tank was not in movement and you
decide to fire instead of moving, a D10 dice is rolled to
see if the shot is successful and the movement restriction
is not applied at all. |

|
WHAT ARE THE EXTRA PIECES IN THE
PACKAGING FOR? |
These have no direct impact on the game.
However, if you chose to personalise your tanks or the game
itself, they are provided to assist you. |
|
HOW MANY TANKS DO YOU NEED TO
MAKE UP A FIGHTING TEAM? |
For beginners to the game, it’s
probably best to begin with 2 tanks per player to have an
interesting game that’s not too complex or too long.
However there is no maximum limit to the amount of tanks each
player controls, allowing that more tanks may mean longer
games. |

Here is a new system to calculate
the value of your tank formation for more balanced games!
Appreciations to Niklaus Godfroy who came up with this excellent
idea. Like Niklaus, don’t hesitate to send us your
ideas to personalise and improve the game.
CALCULATING THE TANK’S VALUE:
Add all of the armour values of a particular tank (2 front,
2 side & 2 rear values). Multiply this total by the
penetration value and take away the last 3 numbers.
Modify this total by +10 or -10 according to the shot or
movement restrictions of that tank.
Example for the IS2M:
(192+192+152+152+158+158)x135 : 135.540 = 135 points.
THE FULL LIST:
KV1-a = 39 pts
ISU 152 = 130 pts
T34-85 = 105 pts
IS2M = 135 pts
Panzer IV auf H = 74 pts
Panther V auf G = 97 pts
Panzer VI Tiger I = 110 pts
Panzer VI Tiger I.E = 122 pts
Panzer VI Tiger II = 170 pts
Elephant = 187 pts
Jagtiger = 214 pts
Sherman M4A1 = 72 pts
Firefly = 78 pts
Subsequently you can choose to impose a restriction on the
number of points each team can be composed of. For example,
if you choose 400 points your German team could consist
of 1x Jagdtiger & 1x Panzer VI Tiger II against a Russian
team of 2x IS2M & 1x ISU 152 or even 10x KV1-a!
|
Another
possibility to balance opposing teams is to have tank squads
of mixed nationalities. We suggest that both players chose
the same number of tanks from each category. |
